How to Build Your Dream Ski Lodge Cabin
Building a ski lodge retreat? A ski lodge cabin is a great space to rest and recharge after a long day on the slopes. There are many factors to consider when creating this space, from the cabin you want to build to details in the interior. Whether you are using the cabin yourself or planning on renting it out, Trailside Structures’ unmatched quality, materials, and craftsmanship will help you build your dream ski lodge cabin.
Choose One of Trailside Structures’ Prefab Cabins
Our natural wood cabins provide the perfect atmosphere for a snowy landscape. Our cabins are built to last and highly versatile, allowing you to decorate them to fit any of your design needs. Trailside Structures uses expert craftsmanship and attention to detail during the building process, allowing for unique customization to make your cabin perfectly tailored to you. Our cabin styles range from simple to rustic luxury, perfect for any nature enthusiast.
Cabin Options

All of our cabins make great ski lodges, but our Teton Log Cabins provide a cozy retreat for nature lovers and our Absarokee Log Cabins are great for families with two bedrooms and loft options. Discover how our expert craftsmanship shows in our projects by checking out our cabin gallery to help you find design ideas for your cabin. We offer many design options, including putting in big windows to showcase the beautiful snow mountains of your ski resort, allowing for nature to be the center of your decorations.
Have a Separate Space for Snow Gear
For ski lodges, it is best to have a space separate from the living space where you can store your wet snow gear. You can try to de-snow yourself before you go inside, but oftentimes there will still be some snow on your boots and clothes that are tracked inside. Our Tiny House Log Cabins have an entry space that can be used as a mudroom, providing a space to let your snowy clothes and gear dry off. Our cabins can also be customized to include storage options for snow gear. Most of our cabins come with a loft, but we can also have shelves, hooks, and racks put in place to hang up snow pants, coats, or even your skis and snowboards.
Heat Up the Cabin

After a fun day in the snow, you’ll want to come home to a warm cabin. Heating systems, warm blankets, and fireplaces are great options for making your cabin more warm and cozy. You can also put rugs on the floor to keep your feet warm. You should put a rug by the entryway so you do not track mud into the cabin. Trailside Structures offers electric heating options for our cabins to keep them warm, and we provide an electric tankless water heater to give you continuous hot water. If you opt for one of our smaller log cabins, like the Dearborn Log Cabin, you will spend less money on heating.
Stock up on Hot Food and Drinks
Additionally, after a long day in the cold, you will want to enjoy hot food and drinks at your cabin. Hot chocolate, tea, coffee, and mulled wine are great hot drinks to enjoy around the fireplace. You also burn a lot of calories when skiing and snowboarding, and will need foods that are high in carbohydrates, electrolytes, and protein to keep your energy levels high. Oatmeal, chili, and soup are great hot food options to warm you up. Also, don’t forget to stay hydrated and drink water while on the slopes.
Decorate with Trailside’s Furniture Collections
To decorate your ski lodge cabin, incorporate natural elements with wooden furniture and accents. Our Hickory and Aspen furniture collections blend rustic charm with modern comfort, enhancing the character and warmth of our log cabins. You can pick individual furniture pieces or entire sets to decorate your cabin with, check out our furniture gallery to get design ideas. Along with our furniture, decorate your cabin with antique equipment and landscape artwork to tie in the ski lodge theme.

Hickory Collection
Our Hickory Collection showcases the beauty of natural wood while having a varnish on it to ensure its longevity. Hickory wood has maximum durability and a unique texture, making every furniture item a strong and one-of-a-kind piece. It allows for your furniture to be the centerpiece of your decor. This collection offers bedroom, dining, living, and office pieces, as well as hooks, shelves, mirrors, and lamps. We also offer different fabric options for our couches, pillows, and chairs that can embrace the mountain landscape of your ski lodge. We recommend choosing our Bear Mountain Fabric or Yosemite Fabric.

Aspen Collection
Our Aspen Collection embraces the Colorado wilderness, providing a natural elegance to your space. Aspen wood furniture elevates rustic decor with its strength and beauty. The natural twists and turns of the aspen trees are captured in the designs, offering a softer and lighter look to your space while still being strong and durable. The wood has distinct textures, tones, and markings, allowing for each piece to be unique. This collection offers bedroom, dining, and living pieces along with lamps and candleholders for decor.
